Merchant Navy Day:

Merchant Navy Day is officially September the 3rd every year, this year’s Merchant Navy National Commemoration at Tower Hill, London on Sunday, 08 September 2013 remembers all and in the Year of the Convoy features both the Battle of the Atlantic and Artic theatres of war.

 To mark the 70th anniversary of this historic event, the Royal Navy, supported by representatives from the Merchant Navy and other maritime organisations, held a series of events across the UK during May 2013. The main focus of activity was Liverpool, although there were a number of events elsewhere, including London and Londonderry and a special Arctic Convoy event at Loch Ewe. The Merchant Navy Association (Wales) Annual Service at Cardiff Bay took place on Saturday 18th May and the Merchant Navy Association (Wales) Barry Branch Annual Service this year during the Year of the Convoy is on Saturday 21st September 2013.
