Britain remembers Battle of the Atlantic 70 years on:

The events mark the 70th anniversary of the climax of the battle, May 1943, when Germany's submarine fleet suffered heavy losses in the Atlantic.  LINK: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-22445864

A service was held at St Paul's Cathedral, London on May 8, 2013  commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Battle of the Atlantic.

Three Royal Navy warships arrived in London on Wednesday before a special evensong service.

More than 60,000 sailors and airmen lost their lives in the fighting during World War II as they tried to maintain Britain's supply lines from America.  LINK:  http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-22457279

Battle of the Atlantic remembered at St Paul's, 70 years on:

Veterans from the Merchant and Royal Navies have gathered at St Paul's for a service to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Battle of the Atlantic.
 
The special Evensong service on Wednesday, 8 May, saw holders of the Atlantic Star, joined by other veterans and current members of armed forces from across the world to remember the campaign which Sir Winston Churchill described as the only thing which 'really frightened' him during WWII.
